Panamanian carrier Copa Airlines will equip its next generation Boeing 737 fleet with the required navigation performance (RNP) program with procedure designer Naverus.

When fully deployed, the technology will result in up to 10% fuel savings and improve airline schedule efficiency because of improved approach and departure capabilities, Naverus VP business development David Hathaway says in a statement.

Naverus completed an RNP readiness assessment at Copa to help the airline begin the RNP program.

The Latin American carrier has already adopted blended winglets and other technologies aimed at improving fuel efficiency and reducing environmental impact, Copa senior VO operations Larry Ganse notes in a statement.
