Panama's Copa Airlines will launch non-stop flights between Panama City and Tampa from 17 December.

The Star Alliance carrier will operate Boeing 737-700 aircraft four times weekly on the route, says the airport.

Tampa will be Copa's second new destination in the USA in 2013 following its new flights to Boston that began on 10 July. Copa chief executive Pedro Heilbron told Flightglobal in June that the airline plans to announce up to two new destinations by the end of 2013.

Copa will be the only carrier operating between Panama City and Tampa, schedules in Innovata show.
