Copenhagen airport is investing 255 million kroner ($44.7 million) in 5,100 sq m of additional space at its Pier C.

The airport witnessed a growth rate of more than 10% in the number of intercontinental passengers it handled over the first nine months of 2012, motivating the expansion of Pier C to sustain growth.

Nearly 1,900 sq m of the additional space will be used for passport control and security screening, while 2,200 sq m represents an expansion of the second-floor arrivals area and staircase towers.

The airport will also use 1,000 sq m for a panorama lounge on the third floor, including its own staircase tower; a new lounge at Gate C27; and additional seating at Gates C29 and C33.

A number of airlines - Emirates, SAS, Air Canada, Singapore Airlines and Royal Air Maroc - have announced plans to expand their services at Pier C in 2013.
