Czech Airlines is expanding its east-west network with the launch of service to Samara in southern Russia.
The carrier will operate the weekly flight from the Czech regional airport of Karlovy Vary, in the extreme west of the country. The service will be operated using an Airbus A319.
Czech Airlines already operates to Moscow and St Petersburg from Karlovy Vary.
"For Czech Airlines, every new route to the Russian Federation, Central Asia or Ukraine is a valuable and logical outcome of our work to promote the airline in those huge and promising local markets," said vice-president sales and marketing Jiri Marek.
Although the market is "extremely challenging", further routes to these nations are in the planning stage, he said.
