Delta Air Lines and Canada's WestJet have applied to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) to allow them to codeshare.

The two carriers are requesting to codeshare between points in the US and Canada, on domestic flights in the US and Canada, as well as on flights beyond Canada and the US to other points.

Delta has requested for the authorisation to cover its Delta Connection flights as well.

WestJet and Delta announced an interline agreement in February, almost a year after reports first surfaced that the two airlines are looking at forging a codeshare agreement.
