Delta Air Lines has appointed Graeme Burnett as senior vice-president of fuel optimisation, effective 1 August.

Burnett, a 30 year veteran in the energy industry, will oversee all aspects of the airline's fuel programme, including maximising the benefits of its Monroe Energy subsidiary, which owns the refinery in Trainer, Pennsylvania. He will also serve as chairman of the Monroe Energy board of directors.

In his current role, Burnett will report to Ed Bastian, Delta president.

Before joining Delta he worked almost 10 years at Total Petrochemicals. In 2012, he was named as the company's president and chief executive of petrochemicals and refining for the USA.
