Delta Air Lines saw its consolidated traffic rise 2.6% year-over-year in April, with its Atlantic markets leading the increases with 19.6% growth.
Delta also had the largest increase in capacity in its Atlantic markets year-over-year at 23%, which resulted in Atlantic load factors dropping 2.4 percentage points to 80.9%.
A 5.3% rise in system capacity outpaced the consolidated traffic growth, resulting in a 2.2 percentage point fall in system load factor to 80.8%. Delta saw load factor decrease in all its domestic and international markets for the month, with loads in Pacific markets recording the most dramatic decline of 8.5 percentage points for a 71.8% load factor.
Delta's passengers boarded during April grew by 0.9% to 13.5 million.
