Delta unit revenues up 4.5% in July

Delta Air Lines has posted a 4.5% increase in consolidated passenger unit revenue (PRASM) in July, compared with the same month last year.

Traffic decreased 2.8% while capacity decreased 3.1%, resulting in a 0.2 percentage point improvement in load factor to 87.8%, says Delta.

Passenger numbers decreased 2.1% to 15.7 million.

Domestic traffic fell 1.6% while international traffic was down 4.4%. Domestic capacity was down 1.4% and international capacity fell 5.4% during the month.

Delta's domestic load factor fell 0.1 percentage points to 87.8%, while international load factor rose 0.8 percentage points to 87.9%.

The airline's fuel price per gallon was $3.15 for the month.

The airline says that it continued to see benefits from its capacity discipline, corporate revenue gains, and its expansion at New York's LaGuardia airport.
