Diamond Aircraft flew its DA50 Superstar for the first time on 4 April. The five-seat, single-engined aircraft was piloted by Diamond owner and chairman Christian Dries. The all-composite aircraft is powered by a 350hp (260kW) Teledyne Continental TSIOF-550J and is set for certification in the second quarter of next year. Production is to begin in January and Diamond plans to build one a day by the end of next year. A diesel version is also planned.
