Ukrainian carrier Donbassaero has filed for a bankrutpcy protection, according to court documents on country's state registry.
The arbitration court in Donetsk decided on 10 January to impose a moratorium on meeting creditor claims against Donbassaero until 9 July.
Director general Oleg Novikov has been put in charge of carrying out a debt restructuring exercise over the next six months.
The ruling is in response to a request submitted by Donbassaero's owners last month.
State registry documents also show the court named Leonid Talan as external administrator of the carrier during the bankruptcy process.
Talan was also appointed as administrator for Kiev-based airline AeroSvit, which underwent a similar court hearing at the end of December and which has since been struggling to maintain operations.
Along with Dniproavia, the carriers formed a 10-year strategic alliance in 2007 designed to maximise synergies stemming from a combined fleet and joint flight schedule.
