Dubai International Airport has reported a 14% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers to 4.85 million for January.
The largest increase in passenger traffic was recorded on routes to and from Arab Gulf Cooperation Council (AGCC) countries, followed by Western Europe and the Indian Subcontinent.
Middle Eastern routes continued the downward trend in the New Year owing to ongoing unrest in the region, while traffic on African routes surged after months of weak performance, the airport said.
Aircraft movements for the month grew by 8.4% to 29,700, up from the 27,400 recorded during the corresponding period last year.
On the cargo front, total volumes handled by the airport declined 2.6% to 174,000t.
