Dubai International airport has reported a 15.4% year-on-year increase in passenger numbers to 4.85 million for March.
The largest increase was recorded on routes to and from countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), followed by Western Europe and Africa.
Traffic on Middle Eastern routes continued on a downward trend owing to instability in certain parts of the region, the airport says.
Aircraft movements for the month grew by 5.8% to 29,300, while cargo volumes at the airport increased 0.3% to 186,000t.
Dubai International is now the world's fourth busiest airport in terms of international passenger and cargo traffic.
