Lufthansa Technik is expanding its activities in the Middle East by adding airframe component repair capabilities and potential line maintenance services to its Dubai site.
The German maintenance provider has a regional sales team in Dubai and, in 2012, set up a warehouse and nacelle repair shop in the emirate. The latter focused on General Electric GE90 engines, although the facility was only used on demand for on-site repairs at airlines, with technical staff being seconded from Germany on an ad hoc basis.
Now, the MRO group wants to “significantly” expand its technical and sales activities in the Middle East by offering on-site repairs of airframe-related components and engine washing from early 2014, it says.
LHTis also evaluating conducting line maintenance and expanding its material support services for third-party customers in the region, it adds. The expansion is a result of “strong” business growth in the Middle East, says LHT.
The services focus on both commercial airlines and VIP aircraft operators.
