German financier DVB Bank closed senior debt financing for the pre-delivery payments on a Boeing 747-8 freighter for Cargolux.
The Luxembourg freight carrier will take delivery of the aircraft in July 2014, according to DVB, which confirms the deal.
Cargolux is acquiring 13 Boeing 747-8 freighters to replace its 747-400Fs. Its fleet of 17 aircraft at the end of last year included six of the new type.
The carrier turned in a full-year loss of $35 million yesterday, due to a softening in the air freight market over the course of the year.
Cargolux says it is aiming to return to profit in 2014.
