UK budget carrier EasyJet has received a request from shareholder EasyGroup to call an extraordinary general meeting to vote on the removal of deputy chairman Sir David Michels.
Michels, who is the airline's senior independent director, is to step down from his post on the airline's board at the end of 2011. But EasyGroup is calling for him to be removed sooner.
"The board is disappointed that EasyGroup has taken this step, which it views as an unnecessary distraction," said EasyJet.
"The board will write to EasyJet shareholders in due course setting out its position."
This marks the latest in a series of hostile onslaughts against the carrier from founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou, who heads up EasyGroup.
