EasyJet deputy chairman Sir David Michels is to step down from his post on the airline's board at the end of this year.

The UK budget carrier said Michels, who is the airline's senior independent director, will stay until he completes his second three-year term.

Michels spent a few months as chairman of EasyJet during 2009. EasyJet has not named a successor.
