EasyJet lines up long-term Russian expansion

EasyJet has been granted the rights to fly between Manchester and St Petersburg.

"However, we do not have any plans to commence flights currently," says the UK low-cost carrier. "We have started this process to enable us to fly there at some point, but this is a long-term ambition."

In March, EasyJet began daily flights from London Gatwick to Moscow Domodedovo - its first service to the Russian capital - after securing route rights formerly held by BMI.
