European competition regulators are set to make a decision on Aegean Airlines' renewed attempt to takeover fellow Greek operator Olympic Air in April.

Aegean in October announced it had agreed a deal to buy 100% of Olympic Air from Marfin Investment Group for €72 million ($94 million).

A previous merger attempt between the two carriers was blocked by the EU in January 2011.

An update on the European Commission's competition department's website shows it was formally notified of the planned deal at the end of February and is due to make a decision by 9 April.
