Eclipse Aviation has begun building the first Eclipse 500 very light jet (VLJ) for a customer as it heads towards certification of the VLJ in the second quarter. The first aircraft is earmarked for delivery shortly after. The Albuquerque, New Mexico-based airframer has 2,400 orders for the Eclipse to date.
