Israeli carrier El Al will end direct flights from Tel Aviv to Sao Paulo in November after the route failed to meet profitability targets.

The carrier said that high fuel prices are the main reason for the decision.

However, airline sources indicated that the route has never been profitable.

El Al operates the route three times per week using a Boeing 777 aircraft.
