Israeli flag-carrier El Al has finalised its order for four Boeing 777-200ERs, placing options for two additional aircraft.

It initiated the acquisition for the Rolls-Royce Trent 800-powered twin-jets two months ago.

Boeing has today confirmed the completion of the order. The airframer states that El Al holds rights to convert the aircraft into 777-300ERs – which would also switch the powerplant to the General Electric GE90.

It values the agreement at $850 million at catalogue prices, although El Al put its original deal at $540 million.

El Al already has six 777s and has previously stated that the new aircraft will be delivered in 2012 and 2013.
