El Al is to receive its first Boeing 737-900ER in mid-October.

The Israeli airline has six of the narrowbodies on order, having signed for four in March 2011 and added two more in August 2012.

It will get its second in early December, and the four others by early 2016.

Flightglobal's Ascend Online database shows that El Al already has two 737-700s and 15 -800s in service.

The -900ERs will be operated on the airline's European routes. Each will be configured with 156 economy-class and 16 business-class seats.
