Israel's Elbit Systems has acquired M7 Aerospace via its US subsidiary Elbit Systems of America.

The $85 million takeover was executed as an all-cash transaction. Elbit will add M7 Aerospace to its services and support division as part of its strategy to improve its logistics and other support offerings for the US military.

However, the Israeli company also emphasises the importance of its new wholly-owned subsidiary's capabilities in avionics upgrades, special mission modifications, reset programmes, airframe modification and repair of different aircraft platforms for both commercial and military customers.

Located in San Antonio, Texas, M7 Aerospace provides a range of services including aerostructures manufacturing, MRO and engineering services, aircraft parts supply, and supply-chain and logistics support. It began operations in 2003 after acquiring the assets of Fairchild Aircraft and employs a staff of nearly 500.
