Slovakia's embattled budget carrier SkyEurope Airlines is trying to maintain its Vienna flight schedule from the nearby Bratislava Airport, after being forced to transfer its services by Vienna Airport's operator.
SkyEurope failed to satisfy demands for debt payments by a 14 August deadline and Vienna's operator, Flughafen Wien, withdrew all handling services for the airline's departing flights.
The carrier insists that the shift to Bratislava is a "temporary measure" until it can reach agreement with Flughafen Wien on restoring Vienna services.
But SkyEurope is having to move passengers by bus from Vienna to Bratislava, a distance of some 50km.
It says it "regrets the inconvenience to passengers" and will "endeavour to keep affected flights as close to schedule as possible".
SkyEurope, currently attempting to restructure under creditor protection, is offering affected passengers a free coupon for a future flight with the airline.
