Embraer's Phenom 100 very-light jet (VLJ) is undergoing ground testing at the airframer's Sao Paulo, Brazil base ahead of the six-seat aircraft's first flight this quarter.

"The Phenom 100 test campaign has begun and is advancing steadily," says Embraer senior manager of Phenom programmes, Alexandre Figueiredo.

The $3 million Phenom's 1,615lb-thrust (7.9kN) Pratt & Whitney Canada PW617F turbofans have already been powered up and the focus is now on ground vibration tests to verify the Phenom's aero-elasticity, says Embraer. Certification and service entry are scheduled for the middle of next year.
