Embraer confident of new E-Jet business

Embraer says it plans to announce additional orders for its E-Jet family in the "next few weeks" likely pushing the Brazilian airframer's order for the type past 1,000.

Paulo Cesar de Souza e Silva, executive vice president, airline market, says Embraer has accumulated 947 orders to date for its 70 to 120-seat E-Jet family aircraft.

While he did not specify if the orders would be placed by lessors or airline customers, de Souza e Silva announced the appointment of John Slattery to directly manage the company's relationship with commercial aircraft lessors, which is of growing importance to the manufacturer.

De Souza e Silva hinted at more E-jet orders during a 14 March presentation at the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT) in Scottsdale, Arizona.
