Embraer has confirmed a previous announcement by Lufthansa Group to acquire an additional eight Embraer 195 aircraft.

In September this year the Lufthansa Group announced orders for a total of 48 new aircraft (32 A320-family aircraft and eight A330-300s) as well as eight Embraer 195s for use by Lufthansa Regional.

The Lufthansa Group had previously ordered a mixed fleet of 30 Embraer 190s and Embraer 195s for its regional fleet, in June 2007, most of which are already in service with Lufthansa Regional partner carriers Augsburg Airways, Air Dolomiti and CityLine.

Deliveries of the additional eight aircraft are scheduled to commence in the first half of 2012.

"Supported by Germany's economy recovery, Lufthansa demand is strongly growing this year, and is being sustained by a significant upturn in yields," comments Embraer EVP Airline Market Paulo César de Souza e Silva.
