Brazilian airframer Embraer believes potential business it could capture from Delta Air Lines could be significant once the Atlanta-hubbed carrier makes a decision over is future narrowbody fleet.

Earlier this year Delta issued a request for proposal (RFP) to airframers for 100-200 narrowbody replacement aircraft.

Asked during a 29 July earnings call about Embraer's potential order pipeline, company CEO Frederico Curado stated he could not comment on the specific number of orders being discussed in sales campaigns. However, Curado said he could state publicly that Delta could produce a "larger order".

Looking into 2012, Curado stated that there is no clear guidance yet regarding specifics of a commercial jet production rate increase. However, he said the likelihood of an "organic" production increase was strong, and the "chance we will have more aircraft than this year is very high".
