Emirates-CAE Flight Training (ECFT), a joint venture between the Gulf carrier and Canadian simulator manufacturer, will open a second training campus for pilots and maintenance technicians in Dubai in 2012.

The new facility will initially have four Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 full-flight simulators but can be expanded to accommodate up to 10 simulators.

The existing site, which was opened at the Emirates Aviation College campus near Dubai International Airport in 2003, is "approaching full capacity" with 12 FFS for 737, 777, A320 and various business aircraft as well as helicopters, according to the training company.

"Continued strong airline growth" in the Middle East and neighbouring regions was driving the expansion, said ECFT chairman Gary Chapman.
