Emirates SkyCargo has begun freighter flights from Dubai to Sydney, which are being conducted weekly via Singapore and Hong Kong.
The service takes off from Dubai on Sundays with a stopover in Singapore on the outbound flight before continuing to Sydney.
The return flights are routed via Hong Kong and arrive back in Dubai on Tuesdays.
Boeing 777 freighters, which offer a maximum payload of 103t, are deployed on the service.
While Emirates transports cargo in the holds of its passenger aircraft to Australia, the new service "will increase our ability to carry oversized shipments", said Hiran Perera, senior vice-president cargo planning & freighters.
The freighters will add capacity to Australia, which is experiencing growing imports to due the high exchange value of the Australian dollar, added Greg Johnson, the airline's cargo manager for the continent.
