Outgoing Emirates Group executive vice-chairman Maurice Flanagan has hinted that the airline is considering operations between Copenhagen and Seattle.
Flanagan, who is retiring from the Dubai-based carrier this month, told the local Dubai Eye radio that opening Copenhagen-Seattle was a "possibility", citing ethnic links between the two cities.
Scandinavian Airlines had previously operated the connection but axed the route as part of a broad cost-saving effort.
Flanagan also said that Chicago was an "obvious" destination. "We're not in Chicago yet but we will be," he added. Chicago authorities indicated earlier this year that Emirates was planning a service in the second half of 2013.
Emirates is not considering any further tie-ups along the lines of the partnership it has established with Australia's Qantas, said Flanagan. He said there was "nowhere else" to look, and added: "Qantas is a perfect fit but there's nothing else like that on offer."
