A plainly irritated Airbus CEO Tom Enders today discounted French reports that the manufacturer would miss its target of building 12 A380s this year.
Stories today and recent days in French newspapers have reported anonymous sources saying that no more than 10 can be built.
But at a press conference in Toulouse marking the handover of Qantas' first A380 - the seventh example this year - Enders stood by the figure issued earlier this year.
He told reporters: "Speculating about A380 deliveries has become something of a game in the media. I would remind you of the comments earlier this year when people said why were these idiots at Airbus saying they would build 12 or 13 aircraft this year.
"The speculation this morning is eight or ten. I will take a bet that we will build more than 11 aircraft this year."
