Ethiopian Airlines is seeking sale and leaseback financing for its remaining Bombardier Q400 Next Generation aircraft.
The carrier has five new deliveries scheduled towards the end of this year with the first aircraft, MSN 4419, arriving next month. Two of the five aircraft will be operated by Ethiopian Airlines and three by its affiliate, ASKY Airlines of Togo. The Addis Ababa-based carrier will introduce two-class configuration with 67 seats, including seven in business class, on routes within a two- or three-hour radius.
Ethiopian has placed orders for a total of 13 Q400NGs and holds options for another four aircraft.
In 2010, the carrier secured financing on its first eight Q400NGs with the support of Canada's export credit agency, Export Development Canada.
