Ethiopian Airlines' request for US Export Import Bank (Ex-Im) support has been referred to US Congress.

The airline is requesting Ex-Im guarantees for unspecified Boeing aircraft equipped with General Electric engines.

Citibank is the guaranteed lender.

The cofinancing export credit agency is Nippon Export and Investment Insurance, according to Ex-Im's minutes regarding the airline's request.

Ethiopian has 41 aircraft on order according to Flight's ACAS database. Those orders include: 12 Airbus A350-900, 10 Boeing 737-800, five 777-200LR, ten 787-8, and four Bombardier Q400 aircraft.
