Abu Dhabi's Etihad Aviation Group has named ex-JetBlue Airways finance head Mark Powers as its new chief financial officer.

He ultimately succeeds James Rigney who stepped down during last year's major management change.

Powers has former experience in the treasury departments of Northwest Airlines and Continental Airlines, and was also GE Aviation's director of customer finance and commercial engine programmes.

He is currently an academic, serving as professor of finance at Tulane University's Freeman School of Business.

Etihad Aviation Group, the parent of Etihad Airways, says Powers will join the company in January.
