The European Union, through the European Aviation Safety Agency, has issued its long-awaited law on cockpit crew flight time limitations (FTL). This overrides national FTL rules except where existing regulations are stricter. According to EASA, national FTL rules may continue to be applied where they are stricter, unlike the agency's airworthiness rulings, which are not allowed to be tightened up locally.
