EVA Air swings to net loss of NT$1.08bn in Q1 2012

Taiwan's Eva Air has posted a net loss of NT$1.08 billion ($36.8 million) in the first quarter of 2012, compared with net profit of NT$269 million reported a year ago.

Operating revenues for the three months to 31 March increased by 5.71% to NT$25.6 billion, compared with NT$24.2 billion in previous year.

The carrier's operating costs for the quarter increased by 11.8% to NT$24.6 billion. Eva posted an operating loss of NT$884 million, compared with an operating income of NT$554 million a year ago.
