Taiwanese carrier Eva Air plans to launch a thrice weekly Taipei Taoyuan-Asahikawa service on 2 May.
It will use Airbus A330-200 aircraft on the route, says a spokeswoman.
Eva Air will also raise the frequency of its Taipei Taoyuan-Hakodate service, from three to four times weekly, on 1 May.
It will use A330-200 on the additional service, adds the spokeswoman.
Innovata schedules show that Eva Air will compete with TransAsia Airways on the Taipei Taoyuan-Asahikawa route.
Asahikawa and Hakodate are located in the northern island of Hokkaido.
