The US FAA is searching for a contractor to conduct a series of workshops to a cross-section of "professionals and community leaders" who have experience with noise issues.

In a pre-solicitation notice published 29 May, the agency's partner in the effort, the US DOT's Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA), says the community input is needed to provide direction to a future noise research roadmap "focused on annoyance from aviation noise".

"Initiatives of NextGen may be hampered without an aggressive program to address the environmental consequences of aviation noise," the FAA writes.

RITA plans to release a detailed statement of work on the contract as part of a request for quotation (RFQ) to be issued on or about 15 June.
