Amphenol is highlighting its new series of cylindrical fibre optic connectors.

The connectors are designed for use in ‘ruggedised’ and environmental applications using the MIL-DTL-38999 Series III connector with a special insert that can accommodate commercially available MT fibre optic ferrules. Each MT ferrule can accommodate up to 24 fibre optic channels for a total of 96 circuits in a connector shell size 21 package.

And the company has expanded its military aero connectors into the 6.4Gbs range, called Viper. “The Viper connector system gives our customers the ability to scale from 80Mbps up to 10Gbps while maintaining their 0.8in to 1.0in chassis slot pitch and chassis design,” says operations engineering manager Andy
