AirAsia is in talks to buy another 50-80 Airbus A320s and could announce a deal shortly.
The Malaysian low-cost carrier had been hoping for an announcement at the Farnborough air show, but it was unable to conclude the talks before the show ended, says AirAsia chief executive Tony Fernandes.
These will be for the growth at its regional affiliates, including those in the Philippines, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand.
"We are advancing the current deliveries and in final negotiations for more aircraft. There is a lot of growth in our markets," says Fernandes.
