Airbus is raising its forecast for aircraft orders over the course of 2010, putting the new figure at above 400.

At the beginning of this year the airframer put its expectations at 250-300 sales.

But chief executive Tom Enders, speaking at the Farnborough Air Show, said the revised sales target would "certainly be north of 400 new aircraft".

Airbus chief operating officer for customers John Leahy adds that the airframer has a target of gaining one more customer for the A380 by the end of this year.

Its 2010 gross order book at the end of June stood at 131 aircraft, and Airbus notched up another 133 firm orders at the show.

Leahy says that, at 22 July, the order total for the year was 261 aircraft among 20 customers. "The recession is definitely over," he adds.
