The CFM International Leap-1B engines which will power Air Lease's order for 75 Boeing 737 Max aircraft are worth about $1.9 billion at list prices.

The aircraft lessor announced its order for 60 737 Max 8s and 15 737 Max 9s at the Farnborough air show today. The Leap-1B is the sole powerplant for the aircraft type.

"We are pleased that ALC has chosen to add the Leap-1B to its growing portfolio of CFM engines," says Jean-Paul Ebanga, president and CEO of CFM International.

ALC's order is the first by a lessor for the 737 Max, which will help operators achieve 10% to 12% lower fuel burn compared with the current generation CFM56-7B-powered 737.
