Flight International was a high flier at the inaugural Aerospace Media Awards at the Royal Aeronautical Society in London last night, picking up the prestigious Best International Publication gong.

The award was received by managing editor Niall O'Keeffe (pictured).

And it was not Flightglobal's only success on the night. Veteran operations and safety editor David Learmount was also a winner in the "best safety - training and simulation submission" category.

The piece that secured this victory was titled "AF447 and the obstacles to improving airline pilot training".

Wg Cdr Andy Green - who set a land-speed record driving Richard Noble's Thrust supersonic car in 1997 - was guest speaker at the event, which was conceived as a successor to the late, lamented Aerospace Journalist of the Year Awards (AJOYAs) last held in 2010.

Winners of the Aerospace Media Awards are automatically inducted to the aerospace hall of fame.
