African low-cost carrier Fastjet carried more than 31,000 passengers in July, a 14% increase on the figure for June.
The carrier puts its load factor on Tanzanian routes at 79%, which chief executive Ed Winter says was "particularly pleasing" given that Fastjet had been "expecting a slow build-up in load factor" on a reintroduced Kilimanjaro-Zanzibar route. "We recorded a load factor of 65% on this route, which demonstrates the support we have been receiving from travel agents and tour operators," he says.
Overall, Fastjet and its Fly540 arm carried more than 84,000 passengers in July, an almost 40% increase on July 2012. Much of this growth can be attributed to the launch of Fastjet in November 2012.
