Airbus has fewer than 200 slots available for the baseline A320 before the airframer makes the transition to the re-engined A320neo.
EADS chief financial officer Harald Wilhelm insists that the airframer intends to remain competitive on pricing for the jets.
He says there is "healthy demand from the customer side" for the A320neo but "also on the [regular A320]".
"There's not a lot of slots left to be sold before the [A320neo] kicks in," says Wilhelm, putting the figure "below 200, and going further down as days go by".
He adds that the manufacturer is "committed to stay rational", regarding pricing, although it will act on a "case by case" basis. "We do not see so much pricing pressure from customers," he says.
