Fiji Airways will rebrand its regional subsidiary Pacific Sun, to better align it with the parent airline's new brand.

The Nadi-based carrier has launched a competition seeking suggestions for a new name for the carrier, which operates on domestic services and on some regional routes.

“The new brand for our domestic and regional carrier will align with the new Fiji Airways identity, and highlight its important role as a link to Fiji and the Pacific. Hence the new identity will have a distinct yet part-of-the-family look and feel to Fiji Airways,” says chief executive Stefan Pichler.

Flightglobal’s Ascend Online Fleets database shows that Pacific Sun operates a fleet of three de Havilland DHC 6-300s and two ATR 42-500s. It is also planning to take delivery of a new ATR 72-600 in April 2014, which is being leased from Singaporean lessor Avation.

Fiji Airways, previously known as Air Pacific, underwent its own rebranding in June this year. The airline operates a fleet of seven aircraft, and has one Airbus A330-200 on order.
