Fiji and Turkey plan to sign an air services agreement, which will allow flights to commence between the two countries.

The agreement will allow designated airlines to operate two daily passenger flights and a daily cargo flight between Istanbul and Ankara in Turkey and Nadi and Nausori in Fiji, says Fiji's minister for foreign affairs, international cooperation and civil aviation Ratu Inoke Kubuabola.

"It will also be helpful in ensuring that Fiji is on par with changes taking place in international civil aviation," he adds, saying that the agreement will encourage airline alliances and cooperation.

The agreement will be signed by both countries on a date to be decided, says Fiji's information ministry.
