Fiji's Air Pacific plans to start a weekly Nadi-Kiribati-Honolulu service from 25 May.

It will operate Boeing 737-700 aircraft on the route, which is subject to government approval, says the airline.

Air Pacific already operates thrice-weekly non-stop flights to Honolulu, and also flies to the Hawaiian capital once a week via Apia in Samoa.

"Linking Kiribati to both Fiji and Honolulu will be a positive step for many stakeholders. It is an exciting addition to our route network, which will be popular among fishing, dive and bird watching enthusiasts the world over," says Air Pacific's managing director and CEO John Campbell.

Air Pacific will be competing on the Nadi-Kiribati route against Nauru's Our Airline which has a weekly service, according to Innovata.
