Fijian carrier Pacific Sun, a subsidiary of Air Pacific, will complete upgrades to its de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter fleet in February.

The fleet was first retrofitted with weather radar and ground positioning systems in the first quarter of 2012. Further upgrades were made to its cockpit, in addition to the adding of equipment such as terrain warning and automated dependent surveillance-broadcasting systems, says its general manager Shaenaz Voss.

The airline expects to complete additional works on the third aircraft in February.

"These enhancements will further enhance the safety, operational effectiveness and reliability of Pacific Sun's Twin Otter fleet," says Voss.

Voss, however, declined to comment on the airline's future fleet plans.

Flightglobal's Ascend Online database shows that Pacific Sun operates a fleet of three Twin Otters and two ATR 42-500 aircraft.
